Glau was an excellent actress. The character of Tam was compelled to participate in government experiments where she was trained as an assassin. Tam's ability to manage emotions is taken from her. Glau had the opportunity to showcase not just her acting skills, but her combat skills in Firefly. The fact that she was learning to be an assassin gave Glau to make the most of her athletic skills. Summer Glau is a classically educated ballerina. A broken toe was the last straw in her life as an actress. Firefly had only one episode however it was an enormous success. It was so passionate that Whedon returned to the show after a few years. Summer Glau, however, was still receiving top-quality work. Her appearances on TV shows were as diverse as Cold Case and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
