She graduated from Northwestern University in 1990 with as a major in theater. During fall of 1988 Gunn was on the road for a year to learn in the British American Drama Academy. Following her move in Laurel Canyon Los Angeles she resided in the same house as Pamela Adlon. Gunn is best known for her character Skyler White on Breaking, an AMC drama show Breaking. She was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding supporting actress in an Drama Series for her performance winning both 2013 and 2014. In August 2013 she published an opinion piece in The New York Times examining her public displeasure towards her character.
